Oh, you know what to do with this one!

Reel: Show how you “splurge” on ingredients to make the best cakes! by taking your audience along while you shop!

Post: Share a pic something that you love to splurge on, maybe helping yourself to the scraps from all the cakes you've made.

Engagement: Ask your audience what they're splurging on this week or what they would splurge on if they had $100, 000.

Stories: Play splurge or pass with your followers by creating a series of polls comparing two items that they have to choose whether they would SPLURGE or PASS. This could be a great time to slip in a field test to see if they are interested in something you are considering offering.

Let your customers in on your process for packaging orders.

Carousel: Share a picture of your cake then ask your audience to swipe to package it. The next picture will be the cake inside its packaging.

Reel: Share a time lapse of you packaging your orders for the week (or last week). You can have fun with this and show the Instagram vs. reality.

Stories: Package some orders “live” in your stories. If you are doing presales for father’s day or Juneteenth, let your customers know you have space for one last minute order (if you have the capacity to do so) and add a link for them to order.

LIVE: Go Live packaging your orders for the weekend. If you have extras or leftovers, announce that they are up fro grabs first come first serve.

Best Friends Day

You’re going to need a friend for this one! I hope you have friends…I can be your friend :).

Engagement: Encourage your audience to tag their bestie in the comments and which of your items they would share!

Carousel: Introduce your best friend to your customers and share what makes her awesome (maybe that she loves to share one of your most popular items?) Post images of you two doing all the best friend things.

Reel: Share a reel of you and your bestie making something sweet or sharing something sweet. You can also let her do a takeover of your account for the day and you take over hers. You can utilize the ‘Invite collaborator’ feature on reels so it will play to BOTH of your audiences. Can you say “increased reach”? Yay!

Stories: Let you best friend take over your stories for the day. She has total control. Your audience might want to tune in to this one because she might share some interesting things about you!

But let’s talk about some New Updates to Instagram!!!

90 Second Reels!

Instagram has recently made an update that reels can now be up to 90 seconds long! Take advantage of this with a good ole day in the life, explain a process of yours, or whatever else your creative mind can come up with.

Pinned Posts

You can now pin up to three posts at the top of your profile page. Use this as a way to pin important information your customers need to know when they come to your page.

Click here to see how to do it.

Here are three ideas as to what to pin.

  1. A popular post that has great engagement and reach.

  2. A post that showcases what you offer (it would be great if it is a post that has great engagement because you know this post does well)

  3. A post that explains how a customer can order with you or that shows what value product you provide.

Here’s what mine looks like.

Interactive Stickers

Your audience can now engage with you in a new way using interactive stickers!

You can add polls, quizzes, slider emojis, and more directly onto your reel! Your viewers can actively engage with you and it’s great for:

  • shy viewers who wouldn’t usually comment

  • get instant feedback on a sale or product

  • may be great to get sales in the dms (I’m still testing this)

  • and many other creative ways to get your audience active and engaged!

Import Audio

Now you can import audio to use in your reels. Just choose a video you have saved to your phone and it will import that audio. This will be good for pulling audio from tv or other videos.

Don’t sleep on the power of a good ole cake photo!

Although social media is heavily focusing on video content, there is still a place for still images. This can be a one page image or a carousel with multiple angles of your products.

I encourage you to post this at least 2 times a week.

That may sound like a lot, but you can schedule these posts now to go live later using Meta Business Suite. Get all of your posts scheduled for the month!

This is a fun one! Struggling with content? Now's your chance to try out reposting your old content for repeat day or bring back a retired flavor or treat.

Carousel: You can also do a BOGO sale or just have fun posting the same piece of content multiple times in the day (maybe alluding to the next sale coming up or order deadlines). It's also donut day so....

Reel: Post multiple reels of the same thing. Only there’s a secret. One of the reels is NOT like the others! If your customers can guess correctly they get something special. Maybe entered into a drawing for an extra cookie with their order or a shoutout in your stories!

Carousel: Reuse some of last year's content by sharing your favorite Father's Day creations. You can create multiple posts leading up to Father's day and end with a Happy Father's Day post featuring the fathers in your life.

Reel: Share a reel of a father in your life enjoying some of your sweets…or capture them doing something only fathers would do. This could be funny or sweet.

Stories: You can also ask your audience to share stories of the fathers in their lives and you can post them in your stories! (With permission of course!)

Hey! Let’s get you onto some trends. In this section, you will find new sounds and concepts that are trending as well as tutorials for new content ideas you can try.

Be sure to check back often, as I will be updating this area on the spot!

HOOKS

Hooks are what you use at the beginning of a reel to capture your audience’s attention and get them interested in your content.

Here are 3 hook ideas you can try in your reels.

  1. The best [fill in the blank] I’ve ever done/made.

    • You can use this to share about the best cake, cookie, final coat, flavor combo etc. you have ever made.

  2. 5 things you should do before [fill in the blank].

    • Use this to share with your clients a part of the process for ordering a cake form you. Examples like things you should do before placing an order, things you should do before cutting and serving your cake, things you should do before your next celebration, etc.

  3. Stop scrolling if you need [fill in blank with something you provide].

    • Encourage your audience and potential clients to stop and listen if they need a cake for their next celebration, cookies, etc.

    • Bonus if you say “if you live in [fill in your area]…”
