Cake Care and Handling
Always handle and carry cakes from the bottom. Grabbing on the sides can result in damaged or dropped cakes.
Please make sure your car is clear of any loose objects that could slide or roll and hit the cake.
Be sure to have a clear space on the floor of your car for the cake to sit. This is the best way to transport your cake. Please do not sit it in the seat as the slight recline can cause your cake to lean and fall.
NEVER leave your cake in the car unattended. Someone might eat it.
NEVER leave your cake in the car for an extended period of time, especially if the car is off. Your cake WILL MELT. And that’s never any fun. Get the cake to its location before running any extra errands.
Store your cake in the refrigerator until a couple of hours before ready to eat.
Take cake out before ready to serve to allow it to come to room temperature before serving. Unless you like really cold and hard cake. In that case, do you.
If event is outside, do not leave cake out in the sun. It will melt. Keep it shaded and cool as much as possible if inside storage is unavailable.
You have a tall or tiered cake. This means there are dowels and boards holding your cake up! NO FACE SMASHING.
To cut your cake, remove any decorations in the way. Take your knife and cut into the top layer first or use your knife to lift and remove the top layer (if tiered) then cut and serve.
When you remove the top tier, the will be a center dowel that will show. You can remove this or leave it as you cut the bottom tier.
There are small dowels in the bottom tier of the cake. Be aware as you cut. There is also a board in the middle of cake that will help you serve enough servings for your guests. Cut into the cake until you hit the board. Serve top three layers, then remove the board and cut to serve the bottom three layers.
Enjoy your celebration and thank you for choosing The Station Bakery to help you celebrate! I will see you soon!
