Organize with me

Organizing your home bakery can be a daunting and confusing task. How do you organize all of your baking supplies in your personal kitchen? You don’t have enough space to have a fancy cake room, so what do you do? Give up? No!

Even without the extra space to have a cake room, your home bakery business can still be organized and functional. Let me share with you how I do it.

Getting Started with Organizing

Cake pans, cookie cutters, spatulas, cake boards, flour, sugar and everything in between are probably filling all the nooks and crannies of your kitchen.

Here’s the hard truth: YOU HAVE MORE THAN YOU ACTUALLY NEED!

There, I said it. I scroll the internet seeing countless pictures with bragging captions about the ridiculous amount of supplies a single baker owns. Is it really necessary? To your ego, maybe. But in reality a lot of it is not needed.

So, that’s where we are going to start. You might not have enough space in your kitchen for your baking supplies because YOU HAVE TOO MUCH. And I bet you know what I’m going to say next. Yep, it’s time to declutter and let some things go! Trust me. YOU. CAN. DO. IT.

Start in one area at a time. I chose to start in my cabinet space. I looked at what I had and made a game plan. I wanted all of my essential baking products to fit in that one dedicated area. If it didn’t fit, it had to go. I took it down to the bare necessities and I have been thriving and feeling great ever since!

Create and Implement Systems for Organizing Your Home Bakery

  • Systems help keep us accountable to the organization and function of our business.

  • Systems change. As you grow and progress, systems will need to be adjusted.

  • Test systems for functionality.

  • Aim for functionality in your space over just pretty to look at.

  • Keep the design simple which will make it easier to maintain.

Benefits of Decluttering Your Home Bakery Business

  • You will have more space in your kitchen/pantry. Tah-dah!

  • You will be able to clearly see what you have and need.

  • An organized space lends itself to an organized mind.

  • Your business will function better with organization.

  • It will be easy to clean your space and keep it clean.

Tips for Success

  1. Keep most used items within easy reach and put least used items in more difficult to reach places.

  2. Leave room for growth. You don’t need to fill every space. Let it breathe.

  3. Reevaluate often. Systems will change as you grow.

  4. Sentimental items are sweet, but they still have to go. Take a pic and move on, or put it in storage out of your main space.

  5. GIVE YOURSELF GRACE!
